Sebec Lake Maine Family Vacation 2012August 3, 2012

Sebec Lake Maine Family Vacation v.10 was a success! This was out tenth year of taking all the kids to Maine for one of our two summer vacations so that we can relax and spend time with my folks at the cabin on Sebec Lake. Lots of things have changed during that time and we went from bringing four kids to five when Zachary arrived in 2006.

I bought a Kindle and read 3 books while sitting down on the water. There was nothing better than mixing a classic like “East of Eden” with a Tom Clancy thriller. I’ve read photo manuals, wedding and photography blogs and magazines all year and it was nice to give the noodle a break.

started the vacation of with a trip to Bucky’s Meat Market and Stutzman’s Farms for some unbelievable vegetables for all of our home cooked meals. Some of my favorite times during the week were preparing dinner and sitting down with the family with no time constraints.

We spent our two rainy days seeing a movie in town at Centre Theatre and another cloudy rainy day taking the kids up to Moosehead Lake on a moose safari. Yes, we were lucky and saw one on our way up to Rockwood.

The other 5 days were sunny were spent fishing, swimming, grilling, and ice cream at Butterfield’s each day. WeWe had a few long boat rides the length of the lake and wound up at the head of the lake near Packards Camps and the kids went swimming in the river.

This was one of the more laid back vacations to Maine and was what the doctor ordered for Heather and myself after a crazy first half of the year.
